Q:Do you recommend any books for college-bound gals?

This mofo is fantastic. The College Dorm Survival Guide. Read it before going and it has tons of tips. My aunt gave me The Naked Roommate as well, but I didn’t really read it, but apparently that’s helpful.
Oh wait, did you mean in terms of age, not advice for going to college? In that case, I really recommend reading some short stories. Especially if you are more used to reading YA fiction than anything.
I’d check out some stuff in The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction, which you can almost certianly order from a library. If you want to start with a bang, for sure for sure read “Where Are You Going and Where Have You Been” by Joyce Carol Oates. I can’t get enough of it.
